There isn’t a lack of time-tracking softwares out there. Many promise to solve all your time tracking, and employee monitoring problems.
But which should you choose? What would be the best option for your business? Are the time tracking tools even legit?
Well, let’s say you might just have your answers by the end of this article. I have put together a comparison of two different tools that can help you find out which one you should use.
Tivazo is also a time tracking software that has additional features for employee monitoring. Tivazo is
dedicated to increasing business productivity by keeping track of what employees are working on during
their work hours while being non-intrusive.
You can manage both on-site and remote teams with Tivazo and monitor them in real-time, without
having to be in the same location.
It can also be used by freelancers to help keep track of their productivity and work hours, so, if they bill
their clients as per the hours worked, they can get paid fairly.
Moreover, the time tracking software is suitable for any profession including: Lawyers, Engineers, Virtual
Assistants, and more.
TMetric at its core, is a time tracking app, best used for project and team management. TMetric time tracker allows users to keep track of the time spent on different work activities like tasks, meetings, client works, and more.
It is more focused on prioritizing billing and project management rather than employee monitoring. You have to enter times for one project or task, and then start the timer for that project. It will automatically start tracking time for that particular project until you stop the timer. This feature is used to keep track of projects’ progress and updates.

Tivazo has a screenshot monitoring feature for tracking work activities. You as an employer can get screenshots of your team’s activities in regular intervals. You can decide how frequently you want to receive the screenshots.
Your employees can also look back at the screenshots taken. This aims to increase the accountability and productivity of the employees. It also provides transparency on both sides: the employers supervising a team, and the employees being monitored.
Well, you don’t have to have an employer for this screenshot feature to work. If you are a freelancer, don’t worry, Tivazo has got your back. Individual workers can also look back at the work done; this is also how you can track the time you spend on different tasks. You can decide your own time for how frequently you want to take screenshots of your work.
Another interesting thing about the screenshot monitoring feature is that, if you work on multiple screens, the system will take screenshots of each screen in succession. So, you don’t have to worry about activity on other screens not being monitored.
You may be currently using other systems for employee clock-in and clock-out. Tivazo includes the clock-in clock-out feature, so, you don’t have to use various expensive systems for different activities.
In addition to employee monitoring, you can keep records of the clock-in and clock-out times of employees allowing you to accurately track attendance and working hours. So, you can see if your employees are early, on time, or late.
But if someone was not able to clock in because they were doing other tasks like field work, you as the team leader can add manual time for your employee. Or, your employees can add the manual time for themselves as well.
Tivazo keeps records of past attendances as well. So, you can look back at them at any time.
Tivazo automatically pauses time-tracking when you have been idle for some time. It gives an alert mentioning you have been idle for a while, and if you have been working, you can immediately resume your time tracker.
If you are an independent worker, you can decide how long you can be idle, until Tivazo pauses the time tracking. The default timing for this is 5 minutes.
However, if you are an employer, you have the option to set maximum idle time for your employees before the system automatically stops tracking. You’ll also be notified if your team has been idle for a specified duration as well, you can also decide this duration according to your preferences.

You can generate productivity, project progress, and timesheet reports of different dates and time periods. The reports in Tivazo are customizable by the time frame selected and the people of the reports generated. You can either get the report on the whole team or any individual member. The reports provide an in-depth analysis of time spent on work.
Tivazo is available to use on Windows, Mac, and Linux.
The offline features and sync are available no matter which operating system you are using in your computer. It is easy to set up the employee monitoring software on Mac and Windows, but if you find any complications setting it up on your Linux, you can visit the FAQ section of Tivazo’s website, where there is detailed instructions on how to use it on Linux.
Tivazo is used by anyone no matter the profession. The time tracking software is for Lawyers, Engineers, Virtual Assistants, and other professionals. It is scalable based on business size as well. It can be used for time tracking and productivity monitoring by Freelancers, Small Businesses, Agencies, and Enterprises.
Now that we have looked at the key features of Tivazo, let’s take a look at what TMetric has to offer.
TMetric allows for time tracking for each task or project. You can enter task description, the tags, and project the task belongs to, and more.
When you start the time tracking for your task, your time will be tracked until you stop the timer and move on to another task. The screenshots of your work will also be automatically taken at random intervals every 10 minutes. But, this screenshot feature is only available in the desktop app. Time entries can be logged manually later on as well, plus, you can add task details when you manually enter the times.
Similar to Tivazo, TMetric has an intuitive time tracking feature as it detects idle time detection and sends alerts if you are inactive. It also prompts you to take breaks from time to time. And, let’s be real, this is an important feature if you often forget to take breaks when you are deep in work.
The billable amount in TMetric is divided into different types including: project rate, person rate, and work type (user-defined tags) rate.
This feature is what makes TMetric standout from the rest.
For the project rate, the people who work on the project are billed on an hourly basis according the rate specified for the project.
For the person rate, each person has a rate defined for them. And they are billed accordingly for the hours they have put in and the projects they work on.
Work type rate is a customized billing method. You can define tags, what the tags are, and the tag description for the billing. Then, the people who work on tasks with that tag assigned to them, get paid according to the work type rate.
TMetric allows businesses to create clear project plans, set budgets, and billing. Since the system automatically calculates the total billable amount for each project, you don’t have to worry about going over budget.
Not to mention, you can view the project data itself. You can just go to the project dashboard, and you will see metrics such as overall project cost, billable amounts, hours invested in the project, specific task breakdown, and more.
It provides efficient and advanced reports on the projects worked on. Plus, the project dashboard is customizable. There may be a bit of a steep learning curve for new users, but, you can view the TMetric YouTube Channel or their tutorials to find out what each feature means.
TMetric is available almost everywhere. You can get it for your Desktop in Windows, MacOS, and Linux. It also has extensions on various popular browsers.
Plus, you can download TMetric’s app on your mobile phone in both Android and iOS.
To boot, the app can be used offline as well. While the offline features are limited, they’re sufficient for short periods without an internet connection. Just be sure to restore your internet connection as soon as possible.
But, keep in mind that the TMetric desktop and mobile apps do not work as well as the TMetric browser extensions. There are several system bugs and glitches and occasional crashes that reportedly hinder users’ time tracking.
The team management feature of TMetric is no-joke. It grants employers full control over the workspace, hourly rate, weekly schedules, user roles, and app permissions.
It can be tailored to match your company and teams almost perfectly.

TMetric also accounts for employees’ time off. If someone has an upcoming time off, the employers can monitor that information and plan projects and schedules accordingly. Plus, it also helps with tracking and calculating billable amount for both paid time off and unpaid time off.
TMetric has over 50 integrations including tools for software development, task management, project management, design, and communication.
It includes widely used tools such as Google Calendar, and Outlook for scheduling. Slack, Gmail, Teamwork, Zoho, and more for daily activities and teamwork.
It also has plugins for Jira, Asana, ActiveCollab, Todoist, Trello, and so on for project management.
There are many others as well, if you are looking for an all-in-one tool, you will find that TMetric is not lacking in that department.
Tivazo
TMetric
Now, to conclude this review, what would I say is better, Tivazo or TMetric?
Honestly, both have their weaknesses and strengths based on what you are looking for.
If you are looking for real-time employee monitoring software, with strong offline capabilities, good attendance tracking, and customizable screenshots, while also being cost-effective for even small teams and freelancers, then definitely go for Tivazo.
However, if you are looking for tools for project management, billing, and extensive integrations, then check out TMetric. All things considered, both of these are pretty good tools for your business.
